Hello, I'm Mauricio Mendoza, a licensed professional counselor associate based in Austin, TX. If you've reached this part of my profile, it signals that you're ready—ready to befriend yourself, dive deeper, address long overdue pain, acquire new skills, find comfort in your own skin, and perhaps, release some pent-up emotions. Whether your relationships are on shaky ground, life feels like it should be different, or you've recently faced a terrible event, I understand that life is challenging. If you're navigating experiences that don't seem quite fair, feel overwhelming, or leave you with a sense of life's cruelty, I'm here to support you through it.
In therapy, we will explore all dimensions of your life—your childhood, your present, and your future—examining how they've led you to this moment. As a trauma-informed therapist, I comprehend the profound impact certain life events can have. I understand what it's like to feel as though you should be 'over something' that has happened to you. Trauma makes us believe that we are the problem, but that is not right. There is nothing wrong with who you are; there is something wrong with what happened to you. Together, we can unravel the layers of complexity that are your life, befriending the parts of you that have felt they aren't welcome, that are not loved, understood, or worthy of care.
In our work together, our relationship will be the catalyst for your healing. You will have a therapist who so deeply believes in your healing, providing you with a judgment-free space. I will laugh with you, cry with you, and be on your side, utilizing a variety of tools to guide you in your healing journey and help you feel empowered in yourself and your life—an overdue feeling that you truly deserve.
Healing is possible.
